Phewa Lake

The second largest lake in Nepal, Phewa Lake is the centerpiece of Pokhara. Visitors can enjoy boating, visit the Tal Barahi Temple situated on an island in the middle of the lake, or simply relax at the numerous lakeside cafes and restaurants.

World Peace Pagoda

Situated on a hilltop overlooking Phewa Lake, the World Peace Pagoda offers panoramic views of the Annapurna range, Pokhara city, and the lake. The pagoda was built by Japanese Buddhists as a symbol of peace.

Adventure Capital

Pokhara is known as the adventure capital of Nepal, offering activities like paragliding, zip-lining, ultralight flights, bungee jumping, and mountain biking. Sarangkot hill is the most popular takeoff point for paragliding with spectacular views.

Gateway to Annapurna

Pokhara serves as the starting point for most Annapurna region treks including the Annapurna Base Camp, Poon Hill, and Mardi Himal treks. The city has excellent trekking infrastructure with gear shops, guides, and agencies.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Pokhara is during the spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) seasons when the weather is pleasant and mountain views are clear. Winter offers crisp mountain views, while monsoon season (June-August) brings lush greenery.

Getting There

Pokhara is accessible by a 25-minute flight from Kathmandu or a 6-7 hour drive by tourist bus or private car. The scenic road journey follows the Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers with beautiful countryside views.
